So imagine how I feel knowing that at least $138.60 US has been STOLEN from me.
I'm sorry, let me backtrack.
I've been reading an article about plagiarism recently, and as a result I decided to Google my novel. I came across multiple websites that had torrents of my work. One website even listed how many times my novel had been downloaded. 140 times!!!!
So let's do some simple maths.
So let's say the downloads were all in America. The American price for my eBook is $0.99
So 140 x $0.99 = $138.60 U.S.
There's another website that has my novel as part of an 'eBook Dump', sort of like an anthology of stories. There is 3 different formats of my novel in that 'eBook Dump', and 15 links to places to download it.
If at least one person downloaded the 'eBook Dump' from each link, that's 15 illegal downloads. Multiply that by 3, considering the 3 different formats of my story.
15 x 3 = 45 copies illegally downloaded.
Again, if everyone who downloaded the Dump was from America, we multiply 45 by $0.99.
45 x $0.99 = $44.55 U.S.
In total, ($138.60 + $44.55), that's $183.15 U.S. that has effectively been stolen from me.
If you have found me as a result of illegally downloading any of my published works, then SHAME ON YOU! I worked hard to write my stories. For you to go and illegally download it and rob me of potential earnings...I don't want fans like you. You should be very ashamed of yourself.
